After a two-year break, TronCon is back!

Mechatronics program director Derek Wright, PhD, (BASc 2003; MASc 2005) and professor Mihaela Vlasea (BASc 2008; PhD 2014) enthusiastically invite mechatronics alumni to TronCon 2023, the sixth annual mechatronics alumni social at the University of Waterloo.

It's a full day of discovery! This year, TronCon will coincide with the Mechatronics Capstone Design Symposium to give alumni an opportunity to view the newest batch of Capstone design projects (FYDPs) by fourth year mechatronic students, get involved in judging the capststone design projects, and reconnect with the Tron community at the event and at the dinner that follows.

Mechatronics Capstone Design Symposium - capstone project demos by 4th year mechatronics engineering students (Atrium, 1st Floor, E7)

Judging opportunity is available: sign up online! Deadline to sign up as a judge: March 12, 2023.

4:30 - 6:30 pm

TronCon 2023 (Room 3353, 3rd Floor, E7)

-Arrival and registration over refreshments

-Welcome by professor Derek Wright, PhD (BASc 2003; MASc 2005)

-Talk: Rowan Ferrabee (BASc 2019), CTO and Co-Founder, Trajekt Sports

-Talk: Brandon J. DeHart (BASc 2009; MASc 2012; PhD 2019), Engineering Manager, RoboHub, University of Waterloo

-Q&A with speakers, moderated by professors Mihaela Vlasea (BASc 2008; PhD 2014) and Derek Wright

-Closing remarks and celebration of Jan Huissoon's retirement by professors Derek Wright and Mihaela Vlasea

6:30 - 8:30 pm

Dinner with the Tron community, including 4th year mechatronics students, capstone judges, faculty and staff (Fed Hall)

The recipient of the alumni award will be announced.
