Esch Pitch Competition

Ten Student Teams Battle It Out For $60k In Prize Money at the Esch Pitch Competition

During the Esch Pitch Competition, ten outstanding Capstone design project teams, shortlisted from over 50 entries representing all Engineering departments, compete for $60,000 in funding. The Esch Awards support creative and entrepreneurial students who are pursuing research and development and its commercialization for the benefit of Canada.

After each pitch, judges will conduct a live “Dragon’s Den” style Q&A. Come to hear the pitches and cheer on your favourite design team!

Panel on Designing for Disability and Accessibility

Join us for a hybrid panel with three researchers about their work and research in Accessibility in Digital Games and Virtual Reality. The panel will include Triskal deHaven, Dr. Katta Spiel, and Dr. Cayley McArthur. Triskal deHaven will lead the panel with frequently asked questions about Virtual Reality and Accessibility, research studies within higher level education, and some of the gaps in Accessibility that students could pursue. Students are encouraged to ask their own questions about these topics during the event.

Jan Kahehti:io [“beautiful garden”] Longboat, Turtle clan of the Mohawk Nation, is an Elder, educator, writer, herbalist, cultural advocate and visionary. She has dedicated her life to the dissemination and learning of Indigenous language and culture. She shares her knowledge of Earth teachings,storytelling, fasting, dreams, visions, medicine teachings, women's roles, and relationships, Haudenausaunee wampum belts, leadership, environmental changes and the impact that her original language has on understanding important values or life.
