Fakhri Karray, a Waterloo electrical and computer engineering professor, has been honoured as a 2020 fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in recognition of his "contributions to intelligent systems."
The prestigious designation of IEEE fellow is awarded to select IEEE members whose outstanding accomplishments have significantly contributed to the advancement or application of engineering, science, and/or technology.
Fakhri Karray, a Waterloo electrical and computer engineering professor, has been named a 2020 IEEE fellow.
Karray holds the Loblaws Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and is the co-director of the University of Waterloo Artificial Intelligence Institute.
His research focuses on operational artificial intelligence, cognitive machines, natural human-machine interaction, autonomous and intelligent systems.
IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.
