The winners of the Pearl Sullivan Outstanding Staff Teaching Award were recently announced along with the honorees of other major Faculty awards.
Jim Baleshta of mechanical and mechatronics engineering and Jenn Coggan of nanotechnology engineering are the inaugural recipients of the award introduced this year to honour the late Pearl Sullivan, dean of engineering from July 1, 2012 to December 31, 2019.
Sullivan was the first woman to hold the position of dean of Waterloo Engineering and just the fifth woman across Canada to head a school of engineering. Under her leadership from July 2012 to December 2019, the faculty reimagined engineering education and research with revolutionary spaces and transformative programs.
The award recognizes the exceptional contributions of staff members to the Faculty’s learning environment.
In a memo to engineering faculty and staff, Dean Mary Wells congratulated both Baleshta and Coggan and the recipients of other annual honours listed below.
