Dr. Nadine Ibrahim, a Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been inducted as Fellow of the Canadian Engineering Education Association – Association Canadienne de l’éducation en génie (CEEA-ACÉG). Nadine was also elected as president of the organization, having previously served as vice-president.

The CEEA-ACÉG was founded as an organization for individuals interested in engineering and design education and working toward a common national goal to highlight and direct engineering education. The association is working to lead Canadian engineering education towards a stronger community and enhance the profession’s contribution to a better world. The designation of Fellow honours individuals who have demonstrated noteworthy service to engineering education, engineering leadership, or engineering design education through their work with CEEA-ACÉG.

Nadine’s research contributes to a wide spectrum of urban engineering fields and a broad range of global cities, megacities, and most recently megaregions, appearing in leading journals including Nature Climate Change, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Her scholarship of teaching and learning contributes to sustainability education, experiential learning, and engineering leadership education. As the inaugural Turkstra Chair in Urban Engineering, Nadine is preparing students at Waterloo Engineering to be the municipal leaders of tomorrow by learning from a network of faculty, industry professionals and global experts through unique coursework and extracurriculars.

Nadine joined CEEA-ACÉG in 2017 and has continued to be an active member. As President she will provide leadership and insights as the organization moves towards its long-term goals of ensuring a thriving and sustainable Canadian engineering education ecosystem.
