Three professors at Waterloo Engineering were among 10 campus-wide recipients this week of federal funding for researchers believed to be on the verge of breakthroughs.

Adil Al-Mayah of civil and environmental engineering, Irene Goldthorpe of electrical and computer engineering, and Boxin Zhao of chemical engineering will each receive $120,000 through the Discovery Accelerator Supplements program.

The funding was part of $588 million announced by Kirsty Duncan, the minister of science and sport, for students and researchers across the country through the Discovery Grants program of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
