Two electrical and computer engineering professors were among the latest Canada Research Chairs (CRC) recipients recognized for advancing technologies that support people and power the next generation of electronics.
Dr. Kerstin Dautenhahn, Tier 1 NSERC CRC in Socially Intelligent Robotics, develops human-centred robots designed to assist older adults, support therapy for children with disabilities and improve access to mental health services. Her research integrates robotics, psychology and inclusive design to ensure adaptability and effectiveness in real-world environments across diverse communities.
Dr. Lan Wei, Tier 2 NSERC CRC in Nanoscale Devices and Circuits, builds on her expertise in semiconductor and circuit innovation to advance wide bandgap technologies such as gallium nitride for faster, more efficient and compact hardware. Her research targets high-reliability applications in aerospace, medical imaging, electric vehicles and quantum computing.
