Two members of Waterloo Engineering's leadership team have been reappointed to Associate Dean roles for new terms.
Dr. Mary Wells, Dean of Engineering, announced the reappointments of Dr. Carolyn MacGregor and Dr. Derek Rayside. MacGregor's new one-year term as Associate Dean, Teaching and Community runs from September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027. Rayside's new three-year term as Associate Dean, Co-operative Education and Professional Affairs runs from September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2029.
MacGregor, a professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering, has served as Waterloo Engineering's Associate Dean, Teaching, for the past six years, expanding the Teaching Learning Champions network across all units, launching the ExpecTAtions program to support teaching assistants, and introducing more rigorous methods for evaluating teaching. In her new term, her portfolio will expand to include Community, reflecting the broader scope of work she will now oversee.
Rayside, a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has served as Waterloo Engineering's Associate Dean, Co-operative Education and Professional Affairs, for the past three years, helping transform co-op and accreditation processes, strengthening the accreditation support system, and helping launch the Faculty-Aligned Co-op organizational structure. In his new term, Rayside looks forward to continuing to create new ways of working together across campus.
