Electrical hazards exist in every workplace. It is important that all work is conducted with electrical safety in mind and that equipment adheres to electrical codes.
Review the Electrical Safety Certification page before purchasing electrical devices.
The Electrical Safety Program applies to Plant Operations employees including qualified electrical workers (QEWs), task-qualified workers (TQWs), and qualified operations workers (QOWs) as outlined in the program.
All non-electrical workers need to abide by Policy 22.
All University of Waterloo employees are encouraged to take the Electrical Awareness (SO2033) training module.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
