Explore the exciting field of engineering! Go ENG Girl is an exciting opportunity for Grade 7 - 10 girls to visit the University of Waterloo and learn about the wonderful world of engineering. Meet women currently studying engineering, learn about some of the amazing things women engineers are doing, and participate in a cool hands-on activity.

WE Go.DEsign

WE Go.DEsign is a two day Engineering Design and Research Competition for women currently enrolled in grades 10 and 11 presented by the Goethe-Institut. The Grand Prize will be a language, engineering and culture trip to Germany during Summer 2017! There are two elements to the competition, a Research Symposium and a Design Challenge. Each element will be judged by Goethe-Institut and University of Waterloo faculty and staff, with prizes awarded in each element.

Badge Day

Girl Guides are invited to the University of Waterloo to earn their Computer Skills Badge! Complete all the requirements through fun and interactive activity stations led by university students and staff. In addition to completing the badge requirements, the guides will also engage with inspiring mentors who demystify the university experience and technology careers.

The Waterloo Engineering alumni reunion in 2016 is taking place on October 1, 2016 and invites the engineering Classes of 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2011 to campus.

Thalmic Labs, a company founded by three Waterloo Engineering graduates, announced a series B raise of US $120 million today.

Leading the future of human-computer interaction with its Myo gesture control armband, the company has plans to further build out its workforce in Kitchener-Waterloo and San Francisco, and accelerate development of new technologies and products. 

The investment was led by Intel Capital, the Amazon Alexa Fund and Fidelity Investments Canada.

WISE Public Lecture Series: How Can We Help Electricity Access Scale-Up Faster?

Presented by Affordable Energy for Humanity

During his lecture, Dr. Claudio Vergara will present the work being carried out at MIT to support the expansion of access to electricity in the developing world.

In collaboration with Comillas University in Spain, researchers from MIT’s Tata Center for Technology and Design are partnering with Organizations such as the Enel Foundation, Iberdrola, the World Bank, and the German and Belgian International Cooperation Agencies to create impactful
solutions to energy access Issues.
