Watch as 12 outstanding Capstone teams compete for over $100k in prizes. These teams were shortlisted from over 50 entries representing most programs in the Faculty of Engineering. The Esch Awards support creative and entrepreneurial students in the pursuit of research and development and its commercialization for the benefit of Canada.

Osteoporosis is a major bone disease in the world, increasing the risk of fractures, and that can be slow down by an healthy lifestyle. Therefore, physical activity is very important, but engagement is a challenge. Eléa's research aims to design active games (exergames) to increase engagement while improving physical health, and fitting to a population at risk of fall and fracture.

As part of the Water Institute's WaterTalks lecture series, Dr. Sathya Gopalakrishnan, Professor, Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics, Ohio State University, will present: Economics of valuing water resources.

The Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) has four main thematic research areas; Smart and Function Materials, Connected Devices, Next Generation Energy Systems and Therapeutics and Theranostics. To showcase the work going on within these areas, we will be holding monthly WIN Thematic Seminars featuring our members and their research group members.

The Value of Water in Canada, Steve Brown, Senior Associate, Water Resources, Stantec, will present: Stream restoration as a tool for water asset management.

Transformative Quantum Technologies (TQT) will be holding the Q4Environment Information Session: How Can Quantum Address Environmental Challenges on Thursday, February 15 at RAC 1, 3003, from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm. This event will provide attendees an opportunity to hear from speakers from both the UW quantum and environment community, as well as explore their ideas with others, and receive valuable feedback from mentors and speakers.

This engaging and interactive game allows us to display the way society views gender-based violence and how as men we can learn to accept and empathize with other people’s experiences.
