The University of Waterloo and the Waterloo Centre for Automotive Research (WatCAR) are proud to once again host the AutoTech Symposium on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 on campus.

Organized by the Waterloo Economic Development Corporation (Waterloo EDC) and the Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association of Canada (APMA), the symposium brings together innovative automotive and technology companies active in disrupting mobility. This event connects participants with each other, as well as key players in the areas of security software, artificial intelligence, and automation.

Featuring Kaylen Pfisterer, PhD Candidate in Systems Design Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Samantha Biglieri, PhD Candidate in Planning, Faculty of Environment.  Kaylen is passionate about application driven research; she presents her novel nutrition tracking technology for enhancing older adults’ health. Samantha is captivated by how neighborhoods influence quality of life, she examines older adults’ lived experiences in their communities to build more inclusive cities.

Philip Kim is an experimental condensed matter physicist. The focus of Kim’s group’s research is the mesoscopic investigation of various physical phenomena in low dimensional and nanostructured materials. Current research topics are: quantum transport in graphene and its heterostructures; developing heterostructured van der Waals material interfaces and mesoscale investigation.

As part of the Office of Research's Research Talks series, executive director of the Water Institute and professor of Economics, Roy Brouwer, will present, "Global Assessment of Payments for Watershed Services with Roy Brouwer."

Payments for watershed services (PWS) are a new water policy instrument that aims to ensure that the providers of non-marketed water services are paid for their efforts.

As part of the Water Institute's WaterTalks lecture series, Dr. Antje Witting from the Department of Political and Administrative Sciences at the University of Konstanz, presents, "Policy learning in the context of urban flood mitigation."
