Engineering Excellence Doctoral Fellowships (EEF-D)
The Faculty of Engineering is pleased to offer up to 20 Doctoral (PhD) Fellowships for top Canadian/Permanent Resident students.
These Fellowships are valued at up to $120,000 (paid over 4 years) and can be held in any research area within the Faculty of Engineering.
How to be considered
There is no separate application process for PhD Fellowships or the entrance awards. Eligible applicants will automatically be considered and students will be notified in their offer letter. Current domestic MASc students who plan to transfer to the PhD are also automatically considered once their transfer is approved.
In addition to the fellowships, the Faculty of Engineering also offers Dean's Entrance Awards (DEA), valued at $5,000, to highly qualified domestic applicants.
The University of Waterloo along with the Faculty of Engineering also offer's the Provost Doctoral Entrance Award for Women (PDEAW), valued at $5,000, for outstanding full-time female doctoral students.
Tri-Agency (NSERC, CIHR, and SSHRC) award recipients will receive the President’s Graduate Scholarship top-up, valued in the Faculty of Engineering at $15,000 for each year you hold the award. $5,000 is coming from the University of Waterloo and $10,000 from the Faculty of Engineering.
Any Fellowship recipients holding an Tri-Agency award shorter than their program time limit (i.e. 12 terms for PhD2) will continue to receive the fellowship in their final terms.
All full-time PhD applicant to whom an offer is made will receive minimum financial support of $98,000 (paid over 4 years).
