Two Faculty of Engineering professors were among the winners at this year's Kitchener Waterloo Oktoberfest BMO Women of the Year Awards, which celebrate women advancing Waterloo Region through leadership, innovation and service.
Professor Mary Robinson received the educator award, and Dr. Sirisha Rambhatla received the Vanguard award at the annual ceremony.
Robinson, who earned both her BASc and MASc in chemical engineering at Waterloo, was recognized for her commitment to student-centred learning and innovation in engineering education. Rambhatla, a professor in the Department of Management Science and Engineering, was honoured for her work advancing ethical and transparent artificial intelligence — research that addresses growing demand for AI systems that are accountable and interpretable across consequential fields.
