Adriano Zaffino, a civil engineering student, was honoured by his co-op employer PLC Construction with a $2500 scholarship towards his Adriano Zaffinoeducation.

Engineering recognizes its own

The recipients of this year’s Engineering Faculty and Staff Awards were announced October 24 by Pearl Sullivan, dean of engineering.

The Faculty’s Teaching Excellence Award recognizes outstanding teaching and commitment to the enrichment of Waterloo Engineering education. This year's recipients are Kyle Daun of mechanical and mechatronics engineering, David Nairn of electrical and computer engineering, and Luis Ricardez-Sandoval of chemical engineering.

In the future, Emily Loberto feels sure that there will be flying cars, even if she has to invent them herself.

She wants there to be a cure for cancer. If there isn't one by the time she's older, she wants to help find it.

"I think I want to invent things to help the future," said Loberto, 12, of Cambridge.
