Dreaming a Bigger World Experience

by Jennifer Konkle

What global experience would you pursue if cost wasn’t a barrier? Consider a term abroad, an immersive language program, a globally focused internship, or research grounded in another culture. Experiences like these can broaden your perspective, influence your career path, and prepare you to engage the world more thoughtfully.

In that spirit, Senator V. Peter Harder (BA 1975, Hon. LLD 2005) has committed $50,000 annually to support University of Waterloo undergraduate and graduate students connected to Conrad Grebel University College who are pursuing international learning opportunities. His advice is simple: “Think global. Global literacy is something you need to experience, not just study.”

Applications are now open for spring 2026, with consideration beginning March 25. Start dreaming and apply now!

While they knew that living at Grebel meant that they would be paired with a roommate, Jared and Kyle never expected to get along so well. After a full term at Grebel, Jared and Kyle have immersed themselves in the community and created a social space in their room.
