Our 2021 Challenge Champions: David and Dianne (Daniels) Conrath (BA '88)
Music has always been an important part of Dianne’s life. As a single mom in the 1980’s she kept her and her family fed by a variety of gigs including accompanist for the Schneider Male chorus, teaching piano, playing church organ and conducting a choir in an Anglican church, as well as playing in bars. She found the music program at Conrad Grebel very supportive and accommodating in those years. “The professors, like Bill Maust and other instructors were so encouraging to me and helped me finish my degree in very challenging circumstances,” Said Dianne.
Since those days her children are launched and she is remarried and enjoying retirement with husband Dave who had served on faculty in the Management Engineering program at UW. “This pandemic has been so hard on our musicians and we want to find a way to support them at this time,” said Dianne.
The Conraths have made a matching gift of $3,000 to be used by the music department to purchase recording equipment.
“Our student musicians and ensemble instructors have been stretched to the max during the pandemic,” said Music Department chair, Mark Vuorinen. “Using the professional Sound Devices MixPre-10 Digital Recorder and Neumann microphones will help us to create quality recordings that we can be proud to share.”
Your donations will be matched this Giving Tuesday to help musicians in our UW music program, be the best they can be!
