The human voice is an incredible instrument, not only capable of carrying text, but also showcasing many different sounds to convey emotion or create atmosphere. Voicescapes will explore some of these capabilities, featuring music by composers such as Jaakko Mäntyjärvi, Stephen Hatfield, Morten Lauridsen, and Sarah Hopkins.
A moving concert of vocal and instrumental music inspired by magical tales and legends. The music ranges from the enchanting "Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty" ballets by Tchaikovsky to arias from Mozart's "Magic Flute" and Massenet's "Cinderella", as well as orchestral music from Gounod's "Faust" and the great Can-Can from "Orpheus in the Underworld".
Four chamber groups will play a delightful selection of classical music. Included this term are pieces by Mozart and Peterson. Free admission, reception to follow.
Ontario Mennonite Music Camp provides an exciting camp adventure for 12- to 16-year-olds, pairing exceptional musical instruction with traditional camp activities! Campers will find a safe and supportive community to explore their love of music, strengthen their leadership skills, and deepen their faith.

Join us for a University of Waterloo Balinese Gamelan Ensemble mini-concert and demonstration on Friday, September 6th at noon. The Peter Russell Rock Garden is a lovely place to enjoy even a few minutes of music. Stay after the concert and try a few instruments yourself.
