Scheduling conflicts happen. If you are going to be away from Grebel during scheduled meal times, we can make accommodations to ensure you still get a healthy meal.
Late supper
Late supper is available Monday through Friday for students who have an academic conflict with the 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm supper time at Grebel.
How late supper works
Sign up on the sheet by the kitchen office door (or the milk machine during the first week of term).
- Recurring conflicts are tracked by the term – only sign up once per term.
- This list is not active during exam times (see below).
- One-off conflicts need to be noted no later than 6:15 pm the day of the conflict.
- During exams a new sign-up sheet will be posted on the milk machine.
Once you return from your class or activity, you may find an ‘ON’ don who will let you know when the next kitchen run will be - typically on the half hour.
- The don will meet you in the Dining room and open up the kitchen to retrieve a plate of food which has been set aside for you.
- You may also help yourself to fruit, bread, beverages, cereal to accompany your meal.
- You may heat the food up in the microwave and enjoy it in the Dining Room.
Brown bag lunches
Bag lunches are available Monday through Friday for students who have an academic conflict with the 11:30 pm – 1:40 pm lunch time at Grebel.
How to make a bag lunch
- Sign up on the sheet by the kitchen office door (or the milk machine during the first week of term).
- Recurring conflicts are tracked by the term – only sign up once per term.
- This list is not active during exam times (see below).
- One-off conflicts need to be noted no later than 2:00 pm the previous day.
- During exams a new sign-up sheet will be posted on the milk machine.
- Assemble your lunch. Bag lunch making supplies are available in the serving line from 7:30 am – 10:30 am each day.
The supplies include:
- cold meats and cheeses,
- hummus,
- raw veggies and lettuce,
- fruits,
- yogurt,
- bottled juice,
- cookies,
- breads and spreads,
- bags
