The Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) has four main thematic research areas; Smart and Function Materials, Connected Devices, Next Generation Energy Systems and Therapeutics and Theranostics. To showcase the work going on within these areas, WIN will be holding Thematic Seminars featuring our members and their research group members.

This month's WIN Thematic Seminar will highlight the Smart & Functional Materials theme with research presented by Atefeh Ghorbani and Professor Hany Aziz from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.

On Wednesday January 25, 2033 at 12:45pm in the Auditorium, Elder In Residence William Woodworth of the Bear Clan, Mohawk, Six Nations of the Grand River. will be speaking on the role and nature of a native Elder based on his experience with Chief Jacob Thomas, perhaps the most important Haudenosaunee Elder of the twentieth century.

His new role at the School of Architecture is to offer teaching and counselling to students and faculty from the native perspective.

The Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) and the Department Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering (MME) are proud to present a joint seminar by Professor Sili Deng from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The seminar will be on "New Roles and Tools for Combustion in Battery Research". Refreshments will be provided! Registration required.

As part of the Water Institute's WaterTalks lecture series, Dr. Giuliano Di Baldassarre, Professor, Department of Earth Sciences & Principal Investigator HydroSocialExtremes, Uppsala University, Sweden will present: Droughts in a human-dominated world: Feedbacks, legacies and inequalities.

Join the ‘Elevating Black excellence in the workplace’ panel discussion on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 12-1 p.m. The event is hosted by Co-operative and Experiential Education (CEE) at the University of Waterloo, a global leader in work-integrated learning.

Join Elaine Gómez as she will describe the importance of representation in games and digital media. She will speak to how gaming has the power to destroy the perpetuation of stereotypical perceptions and will explain how games can be designed to create social impact in meaningful ways.

The Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) and the Department of Chemical Engineering are proud to present a joint seminar by Assoc. Prof. Lucy Vojtová from the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC), Brno University of Technology (BUT), Czech Republic.

This seminar is titled "Advanced nanostructured biomaterials: from synthesis, structure-property relationship to processing and applications in regenerative medicine" and will be held on March 2, 2023 at 10:00AM via Zoom. Registration required!
