The Faculties of Engineering, Mathematics and Science are delighted to invite alumni in the Boston area to an alumni social in the Retro Room at Back Bay Social on April 14, 2026. Back Bay's new Retro Room blends vinyl, 1970s decor and comfort food classics. Come to experience this new 1970s-inspired listening lounge where vinyl sets the mood. 

The Waterloo Engineering alumni class reunion in 2026 is taking place on June 6. The engineering Classes of 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016 and 2021 are invited to celebrate online if they are not able to come to campus.

Alumni, students, employers, industry partners, media, and members of the general public are invited to join us in the Pearl Sullivan Engineering Building (formerly Engineering 7) for the Capstone Design Symposium.

It's a full day of discovery at TronCon 2026! TronCon will coincide with the Mechatronics Capstone Design Symposium to give alumni an opportunity to view the newest batch of Capstone design projects (FYDPs) by fourth year mechatronics students, get involved in judging the capstone design projects, and reconnect with the Tron community at the event and at the dinner that follows. 

Watch as 12 outstanding Capstone teams compete for over $100k in prizes. These teams were shortlisted from over 50 entries representing most programs in the Faculty of Engineering. The Esch Awards support creative and entrepreneurial students in the pursuit of research and development and its commercialization for the benefit of Canada.

The FIRST Robotics Waterloo Regional Competition brings teams of Ontario's brightest high school students to the University of Waterloo campus to battle head-to-head with student-designed, remote-controlled robots. Built from scratch, these five-foot tall, 140-pound robots compete in high intensity robo-sports.

The Faculty of Engineering celebrates the historical moment of grandeur to mark the Centennial of the engineering obligation with the Canadian engineering community in Hong Kong.

RoboHub and ESG Partners will be hosting a panel on Harnessing Robotics & AI For Climate Solutions, which aims to explore how robotics and AI can be applied to climate solutions and how a climate lens can be applied to existing robotics work in areas like healthcare to address climate threats. This event is taking place during CCWX 2025, which runs from November 24 to November 30th.

As part of the Water Institute's WaterTalks lecture series, Reza Najafi, Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Western University and head of the Hydroclimate Extremes and Climate Change Lab (HydroClimEX Lab), co-director of the Centre for Multihazard Risk and Resilience (CMRR), will present Compound flood and drought hazards in a changing climate: Implications for risk and resilience.

This event is in person in DC 1302 with a networking lunch reception to follow in DC 1301 (The Fishbowl).

Join us for a webinar presentation by Dr. Krzysztof Czarnecki on the current state of autonomous vehicles, exploring active deployments, emerging challenges and research directions. The talk will also highlight research taking place in the Waterloo Intelligent Systems Engineering (WISE) Laboratory, which co-led the development of the first autonomous vehicle tested on public roads in Canada.
