Waterloo Engineering students and alumni are invited to participate in an exclusive virtual Office Hour with Crystal Lee, Head of Career Agents at Rora, who will discuss how to negotiate and choose the right job offer.
This is a free session in partnership with Rora – Rora empowers tech talent to negotiate with companies - on how to negotiate job offers successfully.
Rora has now negotiated over $200M dollars worth of job offers, with over 400+ companies, and has over 1000+ offers now in their database. They have advised clients such as Scarlet Chen (Senior Data Scientist @ Shopify), Liam Fedus (Google Brain Researcher), Abhishek Das (FAIR Researcher), Ben Elizalde (Microsoft Researcher), Avi Singh (Google Researcher) and hundreds more.
In this session, Chrystal Lee will share with you the secrets to how Rora has successfully negotiated with companies like Google/Meta and many startups. These negotiation stories cannot be heard anywhere else.
This is a new session with insights from negotiations in the blazing hot post pandemic hiring market and will address many questions including:
- How do you find your market value?
- When can you lose an offer from negotiating?
- How do you identify if an offer deadline is hard?
- Is it ok to renege an offer you accepted?
- Correcting self-limiting beliefs

Biography
Crystal Lee is the head of career agents at Rora, a company focused on improving job offer negotiations. Rora provides the support and guidance for candidates who could really use an agent in their corner while they go through potentially one of the most nerve-wracking moments in their lives...advocating for themselves to an employer. In the span of just over a year, she has negotiated 1,000+ offers, supported 100+ clients and put millions of dollars into the pockets of employees.
Her background expertise as VP of recruitment (for tech, accounting, real estate, law, etc.) and as a tax manager for high net worth individuals lends well to clients considering their offers from a more holistic view.
As for extracurriculars, Crystal is the first recruitment chair for University of San Francisco's inaugural NY Alumni Chapter. She is also the former Chair of the NextGen Committee for the largest membership chapter (Manhattan/Bronx) at the NYSSCPA who in 2020 awarded her with the 40 Under 40 Award for Outstanding Achievement. When she's not eating her way through Manhattan, you can find her singing, dancing and/or leading a group of volunteers at her local community garden.
