ALW seeks to build a culture of lifelong learning within Anabaptist churches, offer a regular rotation of non-formal workshops, grant certificates for those who want to purse this option, and facilitate creative and interactive educational experiences. Participatory workshops will be offered in a variety of locations and venues for both laypeople and church leaders. Conrad Grebel and MCEC have worked together to envision the Anabaptist Learning Workshop for leaders within MCEC.
“Both MCEC and Grebel have made very significant commitments to get this program off the ground. Each brings a unique set of resources and connections, and those who participate in the program will benefit from this partnership,” notes Bailey-Dick.
“Matthew played a key role in envisioning, designing and developing the ALW program during the past year,” affirms Henry Paetkau, MCEC Area Church Minister. “He brings that same energy, creativity and passion for lifelong learning to building a program that serves our diverse faith community.”
Matthew has completed an MA in Peace Studies at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary. Concurrent with his work as ALW Coordinator, he will be completing his PhD in Adult Education and Community Development at the University of Toronto. Matthew and his wife Nina have three children, live in Waterloo and attend Erb St. Mennonite Church.
