Waterloo Engineering Alumni Reception at Tesla

Dean of Engineering, Pearl Sullivan, invites you and a guest to an exclusive alumni reception where you will enjoy an evening of networking with fellow alumni and current co-op students at the Tesla showroom in Palo Alto.

Water Institute Seminar by Althea Grundling

Dr. Althea Grundling, Agricultural Research Council, Institute for Soil, Climate and Water, South Africa, will deliver a seminar: South African Peatlands.

Abstract

Not all wetlands in South Africa are peatlands. Peatlands are characterised by the unique ability to accumulate and store dead organic matter from wetland vegetation under almost permanent water saturated conditions and low oxygen content. Peat is, therefore, not only a resource for soil carbon but also fresh water.

Senior Girls Club

Girls Club engages participants through activities designed to dispel stereotypes about engineers and scientists and inspire girls to pursue these studies in high school and post-secondary education.

FIRST Robotics Competition Kickoff

The University of Waterloo will be hosting an official kickoff event on January 3rd, 2015. Teams will gather at the University of Waterloo's Engineering 5 building to watch the webcast, meet with other teams, and pick up their kit of parts.

All girls are invited to join WiE for a mentorship breakfast and hands-on activity from 9:00-10:00am.
