University Choir Concert: Choral Divas!

Choir Divas: From Opera to Bollywood

Join the UW Choir in a moving and energetic program of music for the cinema and stage, ranging from Italian operas, including La Traviata and Il Trovatore to musicals -- Les Miserable, Into the Woods, South Pacific, and Candide. Join the choir in singing selections from Rogers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music. Finally, be there to see our first ever foray into the music of Bollywood!

Instrumental Chamber Ensemble Concert

Each Instrumental Chamber Ensemble consists of two to seven players, playing selected pieces from great composers.  Sometimes we have classical guitars or brass groups, but the most common grouping is stringed instruments with a piano accompaniment.  

We have the Schubert String Quartet No. 14 "Death and the Maiden", Brahms clarinet trio op. 114, Boccherini piano quintet No. 6 "The Night Watch in Madrid" and Florent Schmitt's Sonatine en trio.

Come join us for a delightful Sunday evening concert, with delicious Grebel refreshments to follow.

Chamber Choir Concert: St. Matthew Passion

Together with the Grand Philharmonic Choir and the KW Symphony, the UW Chamber Choir will perform Bach's St. Matthew Passion at the Centre in the Square.  First performed in Leipzig on Good Friday in 1727, the St. Matthew Passion is widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of sacred classical music.  This Good Friday performance has become a cherished tradition in Waterloo Region.  Mark Vuorinen is both the director of the UW Chamber Choir and the Grand Philharmonic Choir.

The World Beloved: Bluegrass & Beyond

Bluegrass Music, also known as "Old Time Music" or "Old Folk Music," is a North America indigenous music founded by immigrants in the early 20th century. Bluegrass incorporates influences from black spirituals, blues and jazz into Maritime traditional songs, fiddle and dance music.  Carol Barnett's The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass is the featured piece.
