  • Nexus passwords can be changed at WatIAM. If you do change your password, remember to update smartphones, tablets, laptops which might be logging in automatically to Eduroam - potentially, if they have the wrong password, you may be locked out of your account due to failed password attempts against your userid.

Many can be purchased through UW accounts directly from the IST Webstore and if a Nexus machine name is specified, the software will automatically be installed an hour or two later. You can also find details on software which faculty/staff/grads can get for personally owned machines for free or deeply discounted - e.g., Windows (one copy of Windows 10 is available for $11.95) and other Software for Students (Imagine, SAS, S-Plus, etc). Microsoft 365 also provides 5 Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc) licenses to install on personally owned machines - see UW Microsoft 365. NVivo is also available at no cost for UW members.

1. Be aware of M365 storage quotas and information and differences between employees, students, alumni, and retiree quotas and access.
2. Also check the M365 Frequently Asked Questions and click the "How long will I have access to my Microsoft 365 account?" section... Check all the details on that page to confirm, but currently email for life for graduates or retirees; apps for 16 months after graduation; otherwise access to everything else disappears immediately when contracts end.
3. Qualtrics access will end as soon as you are no longer registered or contracts end. If any surveys or data is needed beyond that time, best to arrange to transfer surveys to faculty member accounts. It's easier to transfer things while your account is still active.
4. VPN access will no longer be available to you.
5. Ensure you return any equipment you were using off campus.
6. If a faculty member had provided equipment for your use in your office, check if it should be relocated and if so, send a message to PsychIT@uwaterloo.ca with the new location as we'll need to configure network ports and update inventory records.
7. Make backups of anything and everything you need.

I'd strongly suggest that anytime your status is about to change, it's a good excuse to make extra backups of everything ahead of time... At least 2 copies.
