Who do I contact to send an internal faculty-wide email?

We do not send one-off or irregular faculty-wide emails and instead try to have all messages included in the various internal newsletters. Get in touch with us for more details: mathcomm@uwaterloo.ca

How do I promote an event to the Faculty of Math?

We have regular internal newsletters that can be used to promote events. Get in touch with us by email: mathcomm@uwaterloo.ca

What newsletters are sent in the Faculty of Mathematics?

Student communications

How do I send an email to all students in the Faculty of Math?

We do not send mass email to undergraduate students. The UWaterloo student communications framework has policy governing email to undergraduate students. The Math Undergraduate Office oversees communications with undergraduates in the Faculty of Math: mathuo@uwaterloo.ca

Does the Math Undergraduate Office have a student newsletter?

Yes! The MUO sends a monthly newsletter to undergraduate students in the Faculty of Math: mathuo@uwaterloo.ca

Jon Parsons

Jon Parsons

Director, Strategic Communications

Job responsibilities

Jon supports strategic communications, leadership communications, and team management. Jon has a background as a journalist, researcher, and teacher, which led him to a career in communications for higher education. He completed a PhD in literature at Memorial University.

Nick De Benedetto

Nick Di Benedetto

Communications Officer

Job responsibilities

Nick is the caretaker for Mathematics websites and works with users across the Faculty to ensure web content is correct, current, and engaging. In addition to digital content, he also works closely with the Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach team to develop strategic marketing materials and communications. Outside of work, Nick enjoys spending time with his wife, young son, and dog, enjoying the great outdoors, or hosting dinner parties.

Kimberly Kuntz

Kimberly Kuntz

Faculty Events Manager

Job responsibilities

Kim organizes faculty-wide events such as convocation receptions and undergraduate student award receptions, as well as supporting units within the Faculty of Math with events such as workshops, conferences, and receptions.

Kim received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Development Studies, as well as a Diploma of Social Work at the University of Waterloo. Since joining the University of Waterloo in 2007, Kim has continued her education with certifications like project and event management.

Melodie Roschman

Melodie Roschman

Communications Officer, Media

Job responsibilities

Melodie Roschman has a BA in English and Journalism from Andrews University, an MA in English from McMaster University, and a PhD in English from the University of Colorado Boulder.

As the Communications Officer for Media, she spends her days investigating faculty research, interviewing experts, and writing press releases and articles about the exciting things happening in the Faculty of Math.

She loves getting to help make complex ideas accessible for people, whether she’s writing a feature about math and medicine or creating scripts for an educational video series Melodie’s favorite part of working in the Faculty of Mathematics is getting to work with so many brilliant, curious, and often very funny people.

In her free time, she loves to cook, do DIY projects, and overanalyze TV shows with her husband, Taylor, and cat, Minnie.

Job responsibilities

Elisabetta is the Faculty of Mathematics' Social Media & Digital Communications Officer. She specializes in social media communication and digital asset creation. She enjoys creating content that makes math approachable to all! In her spare time, she enjoys reading or attempting a new craft.

Fatimah Rathore

Communications Officer, Internal & Engagement

Job responsibilities

Fatimah develops internally focused communications in support of the Faculty of Mathematics’ strategic initiatives. She also recommends and implements community engagement and well-being initiatives to enhance and create equitable services for employees and students.

Her favourite part about working in the Faculty of Math is the supportive work culture and closeness to math CnD—and their delicious treats!

Mike Valente

Mike Valente

Communications Officer, Multimedia Projects

Job responsibilities

Mike is responsible for producing digital content with the aim to engage local and global audiences through interesting and inspiring videos that showcase learning and research in mathematics, statistics, and computer science. He also oversees partnerships with internal and external content managers, editors, designers, developers, and other University staff to ensure content meets both client and institutional needs, while also aligning with our brand strategy. Mike's favourite thing about working in the Faculty of Mathematics is the unlimited number of positive impact stories and the celebration of human potential. He enjoys watching sports, discovering new music and spoiling my dog, Gizmo!

Megan Dash

Megan Dash

Marketing Coordinator (co-op)

Job responsibilities

Megan's role focuses on supporting the creation and management of digital assets used for marketing and recruitment within the Faculty of Mathematics. She also supports the Faculty's digital communication strategy by utilizing analytical tools to assess effectiveness and facilitating the adoption of innovative digital communication approaches.
In her free time, she enjoys doing digital art, playing puzzle games, and crocheting!

Angelina Doiron

Bikramjit Singh

Marketing Coordinator (Co-op)

Job responsibilities

Bikram plays a key role in creating digital assets and marketing materials for various initiatives, including social media campaigns, giveaways, and graphics for departmental events. He also manages MailChimp communications, analyzes marketing performance, and collaborates with cross-campus partners to support projects. In addition, Bikram contributes to web content creation, storytelling, and marketing assets for the Math Undergraduate Office and other departments.
