While a graduate, Garth did the groundwork research on Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) that represents what is arguably the single biggest breakthrough in data storage in the last quarter century.
Garth has not only made seminal academic contributions, but has also translated his research and vision into practice both by interacting with industrial collaborators and by participating in his own successful start-up company, Panasas Inc.
