On May 27, 2024, delegates from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) met with representatives of the Centre for Education in Math and Computing (CEMC) and the larger Faculty of Mathematics to celebrate a new phase in their continuing partnership.

The award was established in 2010 by the Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society’s (CAIMS) and recognizes “exceptional research in any branch of applied mathematics,” conducted primarily in Canada or in affiliation with a Canadian university.

Forster (BSc ’64) was one of the first female math students at the University of Waterloo, and an essential part of Waterloo’s computing group following her graduation in the mid 1960s.

This third-year class teaches students how to create artwork using “advanced computer science techniques like computer vision, 3D graphics, generative agents, audio processing, real-time data streaming, distributed systems, and more,” says Professor Daniel Vogel who taught this course for the Winter 2024 term.
