As CEO of RBC, one of the world's largest banks, McKay has taken its performance to new heights while championing innovation and technology in the financial services sector. McKay's leadership during the past three years has been particularly noteworthy, as he navigated the economic storm brought about by the pandemic. His ability to bring together government, regulators, and bank CEOs to implement productive policies and leverage technology to keep the organization running smoothly was truly impressive.
McKay’s 30-year career at RBC got started with a co-op placement while a computer science student at the University of Waterloo. Today, McKay is one of this University’s most passionate advocates, and his support is one of the reasons RBC hires hundreds of Waterloo co-op and summer students each year. He has also shared his leadership and strategic guidance with the University as a member of the Board of Governors.
In November of 2022, McKay was named to the Order of Ontario.
McKay exemplifies the spirit of innovation that defines the Faculty of Mathematics and the University of Waterloo and we are proud of his success. Congratulations, Dave!
