Why Waterloo?
I decided to come to Waterloo for its Computer Science and Business Administration Double Degree Co-op program. The opportunity to study at a university well-known for its strength in STEM disciplines, while working towards a Bachelor of Business Administration from Laurier, was quite attractive. The academic opportunity, combined with a strong Co-op program, were important factors in my decision to come to Waterloo.
Advice for first-year students
Stay
on
top
of
your
academics.
With
more
freedom
in
university,
comes
more
responsibilities.
It?s
easy
to
fall
behind
in
academics,
and
hard
to
catch
back
up.
So
do
what
you
need
to
do
to
stay
on
top
of
your
academics:
manage
your
time
well,
get
organized,
get
peer
accountability,
etc.
Get
involved.
Whether
it
is
a
club,
sport,
council,
student
design
team, get
involved
in
something.
They
are
great
ways
to
meet
new
people
who
share
the
same
interests
as
you.
Clubs
Day
in
the
first
month
of
each
term
is
a
great
way
to
discover
and
learn
about clubs
you
may
be
interested
in.
Lastly,
there
are
lots
of
services
that
you
are
entitled
to
as
a
registered
student
at
the
University
of
Waterloo,
so
don?t
be
afraid
to
make
use
of
them
if
you
need
it.
Examples
include
the
Shuttle
Service,
Health
Services,
Counselling
Services,
and
AccessAbility
Services.
