Why Waterloo?
When I was young (in grade 6 or grade 7), I decided that I wanted to study math. From there, concluding that I wanted to go to the University of Waterloo clearly followed the fact that their Math Faculty has a great reputation, plus they also produced some pretty cool math contests. Fast forward 5-6 years to university applications, from the amazing co-op program, to the reputable faculty and friendly atmosphere, the choice was still clear; I have never regretted my decision.
Advice for first-year students
While going to university can be very exciting, it can also be very nerve-wracking. A great way to move through the transition is by meeting new people, whether it be through Orientation Week, living in residence, in class, or joining clubs. (If you make friends from your faculty/program, then you also get automatic study partners!) More importantly, it's essential to keep a balanced lifestyle between school and fun, and in difficult times, remember why you chose the program: because math rocks!
