Virtual Tour of Residential School
Event Info
This virtual tour of the former Mohawk Institute Residential School is conducted by Woodland Cultural Centre and gives the history of the school from when it opened in 1831 until it closed in 1970. After the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions or share comments with the Cultural Interpreter.
The tour will last approximately 90 minutes.
This event is open to all students, staff, and faculty in the Faculty of Math.
There are two ways to participate. You can register and receive a link to view the tour from wherever you are, or you can register and join us in MC 5501 to watch with other Faculty of Math members. Please indicate on the registration form which option you prefer.
Kevin George from Indigenous Relations and Elder Myeengun Henry will be on hand at this event to answer questions and facilitate discussion. Please be aware that Elder Henry will perform a smudge in MC 5501 during this event.
Participants who view the tour online will only be able to view the tour and the Q&A with Woodland Cultural Centre. Participants who attend the event in MC 5501 will view the tour, the Q&A, the smudging ceremony, and will be able to ask further questions of Kevin George and Elder Henry.
The event is free but registration is required.
