headshots of 2022 group of Schulich Leaders joining the University of Waterloo
New cohorts of students beginning their studies at the University of Waterloo are always full of promise, but some students show so much potential in their high school years that they are already recognized as future leaders with outstanding drive and passion in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The Schulich Leaders Scholarship, Canada’s largest annual STEM scholarship valued at $80,000 and $100,000, is awarded to 100 recipients every year and for the eleventh year in a row, UWaterloo is proud to welcome some of these outstanding students to our community.

This year, ten of the 100 winners are attending the University of Waterloo, with five of those ten joining the Faculty of Mathematics. Maggie Liu, Ashwin Roperia, Tudor Barson, and Sarah Wilson are all studying Computer Science, while Michael Xu is studying Software Engineering (a joint program between the Faculty of Mathematics and the Faculty of Engineering). While already standing out amongst their peers, the future looks even brighter for these promising students and we are excited to see the incredible contributions they make during their time at UWaterloo and beyond.
