St. Jerome’s University and the University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Mathematics are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement that will provide for the consolidation of mathematics at the University of Waterloo. This agreement is effective May 1, 2014. As part of this agreement the faculty members in mathematics at St. Jerome's will join their colleagues in the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo.
For St. Jerome’s University, the consolidation agreement provides the opportunity to build on its strengths in the liberal arts and develop programming that is aligned with its institutional mission and values. Although St. Jerome's will no longer co-register undergraduate students in mathematics, we are currently exploring with the Faculty of Mathematics future collaborative opportunities that will support mathematics at UWaterloo.
For the Faculty of Mathematics, this agreement is part of a larger effort to consolidate and refocus the activities within the Faculty. For example, the Faculty continues to expand online learning opportunities, and recently has added communications course requirements for all of its undergraduates.
We look forward to continuing our work together.
