The Waterloo Cybersecurity and Privacy Institute (CPI) is hosting an upcoming talk featuring two researchers from the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization. The event is on the subject "Are we ready for the quantum era" and is scheduled to take place February 28, 6:30-8:00 pm.
Speakers include Michele Mosca, professor of combinatorics and optimization and co-founder of the Institute for Quantum Computing, and Sara Zafar Jafarzadeh, a postdoctoral fellow in combinatorics and optimization and a member of the Institute for Quantum Computing.
Mosca and Jafarzadeh set out to describe "the risk posed by cryptographically-relevant quantum computers as well as how we can mitigate it. Moreover, we will explain why it is important to act now, even though cryptographically-relevant quantum computers are not yet available."
CPI Talks is a series of events that aim to bring central issues in cybersecurity and privacy to a broader audience through its approach to public academia. The event is free and open to everyone in the Waterloo community and to the general public, though registration is required.
