The first director of the University of Waterloo's computing centre was the late J. Wesley "Wes" Graham. Graham has long been known as the father of computing at Waterloo, because of persistence in procuring powerful computing equipment and his belief that students should have early access to the equipment.
Each year CS-Can/Info-Can recognizes current or former faculty members in Canadian computer science departments, schools, and faculties who have made outstanding and sustained contributions to computing over their careers. The awards can be for achievement in research, teaching, service, or any combination of these. Read more about the CS-Can/Info-Can award for Graham.
