The excitement of the math and CS students in her residence hall and advice from calculus Professor Ron Scoins led Nina Thomsen to switch majors from the arts to the Computer Science and Business program.
Post-graduation and a celebratory trip to Europe, Nina began her career at Woods Gordon (now Capgemini Canada) in 1984. There, she rose through the ranks from consultant to principal in 2006. Her work in transforming supply chain management and the online retail presence for Canadian Tire positioned her for the role of vice president, IT project delivery, at Loblaw Companies, from 2007 – 2009. With several senior project managers reporting to her, Nina oversaw enterprise-level change in application infrastructure for resource planning. “That footprint remains.”
After several months away from the workforce attending her mother’s passing, Nina returned in 2010 as CIO, senior VP IT, for Revera Inc., a Canadian senior care company operating in Canada, the US and the UK. In the five plus years she served in this role, she streamlined and improved electronic health record keeping and introduced electronic medication administration. Further, she established the business infrastructure and IT to enhance Revera’s financial planning and management of treasury, talent and recruiting.
In 2015, Nina left Revera and she is presently engaged in consulting for clients such as the LCBO.
"I credit my Math degree combined with the Co-operative Program with setting me up for success in my career and in my personal life."
