Award-winning graduate students in Applied Mathematics

On Monday, July 23, four graduate students in the Department of Applied Mathematics were awarded for their achievements. 

Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards

Three graduate students in Applied Math have received Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards. Humeyra Kiyak, Jesse Legaspi, and Abdullah Sivas each received at least two outstanding TA nominations for their work in the Spring 2017, Fall 2017, and Winter 2018 terms. They will each receive a $250. 

Applied Mathematics Graduate Research Award

PhD student Aaron Coutino has received the 2017/2018 Applied Mathematics Graduate Research Award for his paper "Hurricanes Ingrid and Manuel (2013) and their impact on the salinity of the Meteoric Water Mass, Quintana Roo, Mexico” which was published in the Journal of Hydrology in 2017. This award, valued at $250, is given by the Department of Applied Mathematics to a graduate student  for an outstanding research paper.
